Our Staff Makes The Difference "The staff at Pine Village Preschool are dedicated teaching professionals, committed to providing your children with a loving and stimulating educational environment." |
Brid Martin and Emma Lougheed, Owners/Directors
Brid Martin and Emma Lougheed have spent many years in the field of Early Childhood and Education. Opening Pine Village Preschool, first in Brighton and subsequently in West Newton, is the culmination of years of training and hands on work with children. Brid and Emma continue to work as Directors in both programs and strive to meet the diverse needs of families living in the Boston area, by offering a high quality, bilingual, educational preschool program.
Staff Qualifications
Each teacher hired at Pine Village is an essential part of this family. The Pine Village Family is a strong and committed group of women who have made child development and education their life and love. While it may be the owners of this program who have designed and created the philosophy and methods, it is our teachers who implement it.
Each one is essential to the success of Pine Village Preschool. We take great pride in our staff and trust them completely to implement our vision of a high quality bilingual early childhood program.
All of our teachers are completely fluent in both English and Spanish. We hire only teachers with experience and education in the field of Early Childhood. Each of our classroom Lead Teachers hold a degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, several of whom also hold Masters degrees in the same, and/or Special Education.
As an employee benefit, each teacher at Pine Village is required to complete one college level course in Early Childhood Education each year. This benefit/requirement not only guaruntees that each teacher will meet the OCCS requirements for continuing education, but also assists each teacher in working towards a higher degree and maintains the quality standard we expect in our programs.
The Role of Teachers
As teachers, we see our role as facilitators; teaching is incidental and part of the children’s play. Their learning is embedded in a supportive context. We join our students in activities of their choosing, and respect each child’s right to move through the curriculum at his or her own pace. We provide an emotionally supportive environment, set up to respect a range of developmental levels.
